Hands

I have the most amazing grandparents ever!  Their support and influence has made such a huge impact on my life.  How thankful I am for my grandparents and for the influence their example will have on my children and their future posterity! My grandma was inspired by this photo I took to write the following poem for her writing class, which I love so much and means so much to me.

To Rylee Wanda Hansen

I now hold your little hand in mine
Thinking of the years between our time.
You, newly born!  Me, ninety one.
Your life's ahead.  Mine's nearly done.

I'd lead you by the hand through life.
Guard you from its hurts and strife.
Tell you all that I have learned,
And of the goals for which I've yearned.

But now, it's your turn here on earth!
From goodly parents came your birth.
They'll teach you how to Choose the Right,
And stand for truth with all your might.

To help and serve your fellow-man,
Repent of sins-for that's the plan.
Love simple things, cherish each day.
That we might have joy is Jesus' way.

And as you take life's steps and grow,
There's one thing I want you to know...
I'll always be there with my love
Cheering you on from Heaven above.
